Matthew has been the Legislative Director for House Democratic Leader Tom Sawyer since December 2021, previously serving as an intern for Kansas State Treasurer Lynn Rogers.
Matthew graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Communication Studies and with a dual minor in Business and Music from Kansas State University in 2019. While at Kansas State University, Matthew was involved in Delta Sigma Phi fraternity, choir, student government, KSDB radio station, and Big Brother Big Sisters.
Soon after graduating from Kansas State University, he pursued a fellowship in Washington D.C. for the non-profit group called RESULTS to learn about legislation to combat domestic poverty and global diseases.
Matthew continued his education and earned a Master's degree in Communication Studies at the University of Nevada Las Vegas in 2021. While at UNLV, he participated in student government, was a graduate teaching assistant, mentored undergraduate students, was a research assistant, and participated in choir.
Matthew started his political career while working on Paul Davis' campaign in 2018.
In Matthew’s free time, he enjoys playing with his Shih Tzu puppy, watching Netflix, playing the piano, and the guitar.
